The Annual “Picnic In The Park” at Parker Park in South Hill is Friday July 2nd starting at 6:00pm. There will be a brief formal program at 7:00 PM featuring the Color Guard and Rifle Squads of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. There will be games for the kids, delicious food, skydivers including Uncle Sam and maybe even Elvis. Join the party with “The Fast Lane Band” and Fireworks at 9:15pm.

The 8th Annual Weldon Independence Day Celebration is Saturday July 3rdat 5:00pm at River Falls Park in Weldon. Bring your lawn chair and blankets for a fun evening of good food, live music and family fun. Musical guests “The Cross-Cutt Band” will be playing Beach, Dance, Oldies and more. Enjoy delicious food including the BBQ Chicken plates from the Weldon Fire Department for $6.00. Plus plenty of activities for the kids.

OSAIL presents their newest event - the Lake Gaston "Pops", a lively American community outdoor band concert. This event will be Saturday, July 3 at the new luxurious Eaton’s Crossing boat dock. At 5pm the band will start their one hour celebration of our country's birthday. Please plan to bring your picnic, family and friends to enjoy the holiday concert.

The Town of Halifax, the Halifax Lion’s Club, and Halifax Fire and Rescue are once again sponsoring the annual fireworks display in Halifax on Sunday July 4th at the Halifax County Courthouse Square. The Halifax Historic Site will be open for tours during the day, and other activities will begin around 6:00pm. “First For Freedom” will be enacting the Delegate Scene, the story of the Halifax Resolves. Enjoy hotdogs, popcorn, snowcones, funnel cakes and other delicious foods. There will be music, fun and fireworks at dark.

The Emporia Greensville Chamber of Commerce regretfully announces the cancellation of its Annual 4th of July Fun Day in the Park. Due to the dry weather conditions the Forestry Department and City Fire officials have suggested that the Fireworks Display would cause an undue hazard to our forest and residents. The Chamber supports their decision and has decided to CANCEL ALL ACTIVITIES scheduled for the 4th of July in light of the fact that it is the fireworks display that attracts citizens to the park. They appreciate the support the City and Fire Department have given the Emporia Greensville Chamber.

The Roanoke Valley Community Concert Band will have a free concert on Sunday, July 4th at 3pm in Centennial Park in Roanoke Rapids. Bring a few lawn chairs and picnics and come out and enjoy the concert!
